UEFA Women's Champions League Semi-final: Chelsea Women 0 Barcelona Women 1
Graham Hansen's superb strike gives Barcelona narrow advantage
Chelsea Women were unable to overcome a resolute Barcelona Women side in the first leg of their UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final on Saturday, as a stunning strike from Graham Hansen gave the visitors a 1-0 lead to take back to the Camp Nou.
Chelsea had the better of the opening exchanges, but it was Barcelona who took the lead against the run of play in the 35th minute. Hansen, who has been in fine form for Barcelona this season, picked up the ball on the right flank and drove into the Chelsea area before unleashing a powerful shot that flew into the top corner of the net.
Chelsea pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but Barcelona defended resolutely and held on to their narrow lead. The Blues will now need to score at least twice in the second leg at the Camp Nou if they are to reach the final.
The second leg of the semi-final will be played on Sunday, April 30.
